due to lack of consistent internet this month i wasn’t been able to post blogs! but here is a brief over view of some things we’ve been up to and some fun facts about this month in maputo, mozambique.

[my tent is the little green one on the left!]
+ this month we live in tents and i love it. it’s comfy and cozy and like having my own room! i wouldn’t be disappointed if we ended up tenting the rest of the race.
+ i bet you didn’t know i’m part of a chorus that regularly performs unprepared, unrehearsed, unplanned, spontaneous concerts? bet you didn’t know i’m a singer. i didn’t either…

[my friend estie fillin up her bucket for a shower]
+ if you need to wash anything, get a bucket! we shower and do laundry and wash dishes all in buckets…pretty effective.
+most of the ministry we do involves lots of praying, which usually leads into lots of worship which always involves loottts of dancing. so. much. dancing. this month is one continual dance party. i am so okay with it.

[the little gals are my new friends mami and lola]
+we get to visit the hospital to pray for and try to bring smiles to the faces of adorable kiddos.
+mozambique isn’t a safe place. one of our teams was robbed in the middle of the night, and others had things stolen from them. we weren’t allowed to go anywhere without a local.

[hangin out with my friend ruthie]
+my new fashion statement is a capulana (piece of fabric wrapped around your waist to make a skirt) and a baby on my hip.
+every morning we have delicious, hot, fresh bread for breakfast. i’m gonna miss that bread.

[enjoyin lunch with melissa!]
+all of the other food is incredible too. mozambiquens know how to cook.
+some of my friends got malaria this month. not fun : /
+we met the most incredible woman named angie who opens her home to boys and trains them up to be men. she home schools and teaches them life skills that will help them discover their passions and get jobs. in addition to the kids she takes in, she has adopted 6 of her own.
+i think i’ve received more kisses this month than in my entire life combined. sweet little old mozambiquen ladies are just so full of love!
overall, it was a great month. we lived in the front yard of an incredible family who welcomed us in as if we’d always been there. my favorite part of the month is simply all the amazing people we met here. mozambiquens are so hospitable and welcoming. i went through a small stretch feeling pretty homesick but i think that is pretty normal for this time in the race. i’m ready head to swaziland and finish our last month here in africa. i can’t even believe we are headed into month 8! seems like we just started this thing yesterday!
