Well, it’s been a while since my last written blog…and being that I am in my LAST MONTH of this race, thought I should get at least one more blog in!

Let me catch you up:
Tanzania: I was frustrated and SOO ready to be done with Africa! Let me share a story with you about the way I feel about Africa.
One night, I was in college, and I ate a ton of fajitas…I love fajitas, and these were delicious fajitas! Well, later that night I came down with a terrible flu-thing sickness and ended up throwing up fajitas all night long (the real crazy part was this was my 1st time to throw-up…I thought you had to push throw-up out…but I learned that night that you, in fact, DO NOT have to push it out! Anyway…) After I recovered, I remember thinking that I NEVER EVER wanted to see a fajita again in my life. Now that some time has passed I can am able to fully enjoy the goodness of fajitas again.
Africa is kind of like fajitas to me. I loved it. Threw it up. Don’t want to see it for a while. But will love it again someday!

Nepal: Best country EVER! I loved Nepal.

Highlights: (for those of you who are like me and hate reading long blogs!)

  1. Upon arrival, found out I had a staph infection. Had a minor operation…went on my merry way.
  2. Lived in a small village SURROUNDED by toads! I was scared all the time. One night I even tripped, fell on all fours, and busted my toe open when I walked into the bathroom shower and saw a toad jumping around in the shower!
  3. We worked with a soccer team and I was the water girl.
  4. Left the village early because the staph started to spread. *good thing I left early, because one guy was going pee in the bathroom and a TOAD was in the toilet! #wouldhavedied!
  5. Fixed the staph once and for all. Lived in Kathmandu for the rest of the month.
  6. Shopped my face off. Went Bungee jumping. Took a flight around Mt. Everest. LOVED Nepal hard core! Now I am poor!

India:

So far I am loving India. We have the best living conditions! And the BEST host ever!
Here are a few fun tidbits about India so far:

  1. India wins the award for most opposite of America.
  2. I can’t say I’ve ever been sick of eating before…but good Lord, these people feed us all the time. India also wins the award for best food…I have yet to say, “I’m hungry” this month. Indian food is so full of flavor and super spicy!
  3. We are treated as royalty. We cannot even bring our dishes to the sink without someone running to our rescue to help us. *It’s going to be a harsh reality check when I get home!
  4. India is SOO colorful. Their clothes are beautiful.
  5. One fun fact: Hindu people believe that the cow is sacred and is worthy of worship; so when they move into a new house they have a cow come into the house and poop and pee in the house. This is the Hindu way of blessing the house. And yet we need to take our shoes off when we go into their house…oh the irony!

Aside from eating way too much delicious food, all is going well here in India. I really cannot believe that month 11 is halfway done. Emotions are all over the place; I am going to miss this ridiculous, unpredictable, (sometimes stupid) crazy life….and my squad mates way too much…to not see them everyday is going to be like quitting drugs cold turkey! NOT looking forward to that, and at the same time, I am excited to get back home to see my long lost (very missed) family and friends.
