Hey by's! I know I should be writing to tell ya'll all about Vietnam [and hopefully Camboida too!]…and I will!…but right now I need you're help! On the race I have financial deadlines for funding and 1 December is the next one, and I have to have 11,000$ of the 15,500$ total. Yes, the 1 December is tomorrow, but AIM has given me a short extension to allow people the chance to support me [and yes, I should have written this ages ago].
1 Chronicles 16: 23-25 “23Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. 24Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! 25For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be held in awe above all gods.”
I want to continue doing just what this verse says! I've taught English to children and university students, spent time with elderly Vietnamese women who have no family, sat with an learned from aboriginal Australian women, taught about God in formal settings, through my actions, and converstaions. I've learned a lot about how God sees me, I've become vulnrable with my team/family and exprienced the healing power of confessing you're sins to each other. I've spent the last 3 months trying to love people the way Jesus loves me. I know God has so much more to teach me, and for me to do, and though that can be terrifying, I'm so excited!
This is so beautiful and shows some of the transformation that we are experiencing. My teammate Jess wrote it in Australia:
“I used to watch church services with fancy slide shows and sound systems. Now I teach the church at the concrete slab under the mango tree. I used to shake a hand when I walked in the building. Now I touch the face of an Aboriginal woman as we pray together. I used to march up to the communion table in my favorite high heels. Now I worship barefoot in the dirt. I used to pray the poor would have a life more like mine. Now I pray my life will look more like theirs.”
God called me to this race, and I know that as I follow and seek God that He will provide. I also know that God works through us, and so that means the He will use people like you (: I'm starting month four on the race, and I know I'm called to do all eleven months, and I intend to finish this race!
Currently I need 1,700$ for the deadline, and then another 4,000$ for the final deadline [1 March]. So please pray about partnering with me! Thank you to those of you who do give, and also thank you for your prayers!
