Every Thursday, my team and I make the long and hot car ride to a place called El Refugio or The Refuge. The Refuge is a battered women’s home which of right now has a total of 20-25 women and children. The women range from 19-45 years of age and the children range from 3 weeks old to 14 years old and the 14 year old is the mother of a 7 month old beautiful baby boy. As a team, we go in and have worship as a large group and then split off into two groups (women and children). Within these groups we give the moms a break from being with the kids and we take the kids to listen to bible stories, color a picture of the bible story and then we go jump on the trampoline!!! We have only been going for 2 weeks and we have already made some great relationships! My team and I are super excited for whats to come these next 2 months with El Refugio!
