Zambia is a very special place for me. It scares me to think about it too much because I can really see myself moving here. The people are conversational and might as well not own a watch- my kind of people!
I have heard that African time was worse than Cuban… That is no joke people.
Zambians are willing to share their hearts with you and teach you about lessons they have learnt in life. There is no sense of comparison or competition constantly hovering over anyone, a nice change from Eastern Europe. Yes, we have the constant stares at the group of white people walking down the street. But in their defense, I’d stare at me too!
Looking back at this month, we covered so much ground. Our ministry was:
– Mentoring a group of widows
Sitting on the cold floor with the group, singing with them and hearing their stories
– Visiting a total of 4-5 orphanages.
Played games and allowed girls to play (knot) with my hair… Stealing my heart forever
– “Youth group”(ages 18-35) & Awanas
– Traditional African village outreach
Getting to crack peanut shells with local villagers while over 10 dirty children fought to hold my hands
– Manual labor
Clearing fields for a new orphanage, being able to hear the vision of the owners and helping them get THAT much closer
– Children’s ministry at church
Giving parents and teachers a break to go enjoy church, while we take care of over 100 kids
From a life where I had the whole world at the touch of my 3G iPhone, to a life where I am lucky if I can upload the google home page. Man! Africa has not been easy on this video blogger.
Thankfully for my wonderful Squad parents, I have been able to upload 2 videos today!
THANK YOU BOB AND SHARON!!!
Enjoy the Zambia video
