Internet at last! This past Sunday our group was fortunate enough to go to The Valley of Angels and eat Papusas all day.  If I had known they had WIFI at the top of this beautiful mountain, I would have brought a little more than my first generation IPod touch (AKA useless). I have a lot to catch everyone up on, so please bear with me.

Ministry in Honduras pt.1

For my first month on the race, my ministry is located at the wonderful Heart of Christ home run by Momma Gracie and Papi Lee. Both have a gigantic heart to be the hope for those who need help. This ministry does everything from

-Rescue women, children, elderly and disabled from violence;

-Refuge for victims and specialized children’s homes;

-Go out into the villages and search for women and children who need food –  assistance;

-Construction ministry

-Provide basic clothes for those in need;

-Work with local doctors and clinics to better health care, provide medicine   and access treatment for those in need and provide medical brigades to supplement local care…

Exhausted just reading this? The list goes on. Momma Gracie and Papi Lee have been living in Honduras for the past 8 years, dedicating their every minute to these people. Everyone knows who Gracie Murphee is, especially since she has her own radio talk show every Wednesday with over 250K listeners across the country. Hondurans rather call Gracies number than their own police. They know Gracie will show up, they know Gracie will give all her focus and energy to find their missing daughter, they know Gracie will fight for justice. Walking in the village with Gracie, she was stopped 3 times by strangers who needed her advice on situations at home.  It is an inspiration to live with a couple who constantly puts people’s needs before their own.

There are currently 2 babies, 4 toddlers, 2 girls and 2 teenagers living at the Heart of Christ Ministry. Aside from the group that is currently living here, we also have a cycle of nanny’s that come in and out of the ministry every week.  Each individual has his or her own story to tell, so I created a video. If you have any questions, feel free to message me!
