My team and I had the privilege to spend the night in a village nearby Phnom Penh and minister to the children there. It was one of the most amazing and encouraging experiences I have had on the World Race so far. The children were at first terrified of us (one of our Cambodian friends explained that we were like aliens to them) and by the end of the next day we couldn't get them off of us to even get in the van.

Seeing God work through us to show these children His love was miraculous, but I also learned A LOT through it. 1 Corinthians 1:19 really illustrates all the things I experienced-

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise: Singing off-key and awkwardly dancing in front of an entire village.

God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong: Admitting I am exhausted and need to take a break from being fully engaged with people for a little while to allow God to replenish me.

He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things- and the things that are not- to nullify the things that are: Accepting the dirt, grime, giant spiders in the squatty potty and lack of soap as reality that overpowers my desire to be "sanitary".

So that no one may boast before him: Sometimes our games and songs for the children were lost in translation from English to Khmer, way too awkward, or simply a failure.

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God that is our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in The Lord.": Being told that even though my Cambodian friend thinks I'm crazy, there's something in me that draws people to me (Jesus!!)
