Merry Christmas from Family Force 6!

This Christmas, I won’t be snowboarding a few days before Christmas, I won’t be eating dinner at my grandparent’s house, I won’t be going to Christmas Eve service at Fallbrook Pres, I won’t be home to open presents Christmas morning or eat our traditional cinnamon roll breakfast. I won’t be home to see the whole family come over for Christmas dinner to fellowship together and enjoy the usually warm December weather of Southern California.

Instead, I’ll be with my new family: Family Force 6. I’ll be playing soccer with kids in a township in the days leading up to Christmas, I’ll be swimming with sharks on Christmas Eve, I’ll be going to Hillsong Church on Christmas Day and then following that up with Fish and Chips on the beach.

Ok, maybe I’m not painting a good picture of how it will be difficult to not be home for Christmas, but trust me, it’s strange. Plus, the World Race isn’t always fun and games (unless you’re crazy like us and think it actually is).

This will be my first Christmas away from my family, but I’m ok with that. It’s just one of the ways that we are forced to sacrifice for the World Race.

Being on the World Race means, yes, maybe I don’t get to spend holidays with family, see friends, or participate in normal Christmas traditions. However, it does mean that I get to spend a year sharing the love of Christ with the nations; seeing cultures I wouldn’t get normally to see; building relationships with some awesome people; blessing others around the world; and being transformed by the entire experience.

I’m beyond blessed this Christmas season. Not only do I have a great community back at home, but I have a new community here full of people who love me and are sharing this experience with me.

I thank God daily for the blessings He has poured out to me this year. When you stop and think about how great God is, you can’t help but be thankful.

He is the reason for the season, and for our entire lives.

I love you all and hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
God bless!

What are you some of your Christmas traditions, and if you’re not doing them this year either, what are you doing instead?
