Most can build a team and it will work for a time. However, without proper communication, expectations and a little help from our Father above things can get complicated quickly. The reality of this trip is that AIM, who bless them have the task of placing 6 to 7 unique individuals together, need that team to function at such a level that they can minister around the world. Were not talking about playing little league here where everyone goes home a winner and the score doesn’t matter. No we are the frontline, a part of the greater Body that is aggressively advancing the Kingdom. We are the sons and daughters of a revolution and when you soak that in the reality of team unity becomes apparent.

I have been privy to a lot of the challenges each team is facing including my own because as one of the eight leaders we look to each other for understanding. I believe there are for the purposes of this conversation two critical things that each person battles with on this journey. AIM constantly reiterates that as a participant in the World Race and the kingdom of heaven for that matter, you forfeit your rights. What this means is as we make decisions, we must go beyond our personal desires and ask does this action bring glory to God. This combined with the ever-daunting task of fighting our western individualism and placing humility before exultation becomes our foundation as a team or a family.

The NT is riddled with wisdom on unity but I am always brought back to Ephesians 4, Paul say’s, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”

Something that I find very interesting is Paul’s use of the word “bearing.” I am sure different have variations on this word but here is how I see it. Bearing implies that we are never going to nail it. That from the day a relationship starts to the day it finishes we need to stay in constant reminder that it’s an ever-changing form, an organism one might call it. It requires intentional attention, love and of course the Holy Spirit, which resides in all believers. As my mentor and good friend say’s the Christ in you sees the Christ in me. If we can hold on to that truth then God can work in our lives and untimely strengthen our team, squad, friends and families.
