The video is by Ian my squadmate who was with me in Kenya and it reveals truth of what the desert is really like…

So those that have been following me along know what this trip is… adventuresome, crazy, exciting, epic, and never dull.  Well that is very far from the truth.  I only show the highlights because they are worth reading and will keep you reading.  But to be honest most of the time it is very unexciting, dull, and well ordinary.  My Squadmate Ian deserves credit for this thought and captures it very well in is 3 part blog New Year’s Resolutions (Click Here to Read it).  For those of you who want to read about what the Race is really like and what we are going through should read his thoughts.  He is a very gifted writer.  Here is a small excerpt :

“On top of the places not being so extraordinary all the time, the journey with God hasn’t been either. It’s still often confusing, distant, or inconsistent. It turns out the Holy Spirit doesn’t give you superpowers, and God doesn’t use fireworks very often, and His voice is still quiet even though you’re in OMG-Africa, and every once in a while, I want to quit. Most of us do, once in a while.

The truth I’m finding is that Race life rarely has music. Okay? Just like real life. New places and new lifestyles are only new for a short time, and then they become ordinary again, or maybe worse. Like I said, the weather sucks, or the food just kills you, or you can’t stand how your teammate throws her crap everywhere. Or whatever it may be.

I’m seeing that the ordinary-ness of life is everywhere. China is ordinary. Africa is ordinary. Trust me, I’ve been there. You just can’t escape the ordinary. And it will trump all the adventure and romanticism that you brought in with you. I promise.

So, this is important: if you can travel all over the world and still not find what you’re looking for . . . WHAT on earth are you looking for?”

Ian makes a very interesting conlcusion at the end of his blog read it and find out.
