I know this is a little strange, I’m not a writer after all, let alone a blogger. But I wanted to share with you what my plans are for next year and the amazing things God is doing in my life.

For about a year and a half I’ve had it on my heart to go on a mission trip. But not just any mission trip.. one where I would live like the disciples used to live, following God and not really knowing where He’ll take me. I remember saying to a friend of mine from church that I had the urge to sell my stuff, pack a bag, and ask God where I should go. At the time she thought I was joking and told me that she definitely did not have that urge. The truth is I’d been feeling that way for a while but it wasn’t until I actually said it that I could do something about it.

The next day I went online and started searching for long-term mission trips. And that’s when I stumbled on The World Race: an 11 month mission trip that puts together groups of adult Christians to travel to a different country each month. As I read more about the trip it felt like all my desires were being answered. My desire to serve God in what looked like the days of the apostles came together perfectly with my love for travel in a way I hadn’t thought possible, and I knew in my heart that I’d eventually be going.

That’s when the praying began.

Is this really God’s will for my life and not my own desires? When should I go? Where should I go (which, by the way, is a completely different route than I’d wanted, but that’s another story)? After almost a year of praying I started to get answers. Now I can tell you I’ll be leaving in January 2015 for 11 months and I’ll be travelling to:

Peru -> Bolivia -> Chile -> India -> Nepal -> Malaysia -> Vietnam -> Cambodia -> Thailand -> Malawi -> Zambia

I might be doing any number of things, from teaching orphans Math and English to building schools and churches to reaching out to the people we meet and teaching them of God’s love for them. I won’t know what I’ll be doing in each country for a while, and even once I do know it might change.. in fact, my whole route might change! But I’ll be leaving with the faith that God is with me in each step and that He will guide my team as we set out to do His work. And that He will take me places, physical and inwardly, that I’d never dreamed I could get to.

I hope you’ll join me in my adventure for God by praying for me and following me in my journey!

Love+Blessings!
