Movers and Shakers of the World (That’s You),
Two things I never would have anticipated doing after the World Race. Moving to the South and raising more support. Both are happening. I don’t want you to get to the last paragraph of this support letter to find out it’s a support letter. It is.
Stick with me folks.
This is my life and I want you to be a part of it.
I think it’s hard for me to go back to the same group of people and ask for continued support. I think it’s a pride thing. Not wanting to be viewed as a twenty six year old mooch, or not wanting to humble myself to ask for help. But after I battle off those thoughts, it always comes down to me choosing to ask for support because I feel called to a life of ministry. I would prefer to sit down over coffee or a New Belgium beer and have the chance to talk face to face about
partnering with me in this ministry rather than a typed out letter, but this is the best way I know how to get the word out, so bear with me.
So what’s the support for?
Since being home post World Race, an opportunity to continue working with Adventures in Missions (AIM) has become a reality. I am raising support to move to Georgia and begin an apprenticeship helping to mobilize a generation through Adventures in Missions.
What will I be doing?
As an apprentice, I will spend 15-20 hours a week specifically focused on discipleship and personal development taking place in a community oriented, experiential learning environment. Additionally, apprentices work alongside AIM staff in one of the departments for 20-25 hours a week. I will be working in AIM’s newest ministry Kingdom Dreams.
What is Kingdom Dreams?
It might be better if I just quote them here.
“We aren’t made to dream alone. We need a community to inspire, equip, challenge, and guide us in the fulfillment of our God-given dreams. Kingdom Dreams is creating a network of Christ- followers who are passionate about seeing God’s Kingdom come to earth. We all need mentors to encourage, challenge, and clarify the path God has for us. We are a growing network ofbelievers who passionately believe in raising up a generation of radical followers of Christ, who want to help you reach your next step. We all have dreams and aspirations but need help getting
started.
Whether you want to start a business, an orphanage, an international ministry, a safe house for women in prostitution, work with an existing ministry, start your own ministry, or something else we haven’t even began to think of, we — Kingdom Dreams – want to help make it happen by pointing people in the right direction.
In short – Kingdom Dreams exists to help people pursue the dreams and passions that God has laid on their hearts by providing coaching, mentoring, networking, and the resources to get those dreams off the ground and running.
Why this appeals to me so much…
The opportunity to be mentored by mature leaders with mounds more spiritual wisdom and discernment (including Seth Barnes the founder of AIM). The opportunity to be under the spiritual covering of an organization whose missions, vision, and standards I stand behind with confidence. The opportunity to help develop people’s dream.
The opportunity to live in community with people who are used to pouring out their lives to encourage one another.
The opportunity for further refinement of who the Lord is molding me into. I feel like the Lord was just starting to tap the surface this year with the kind of life I was made to live. Now that the Race is over, I’m getting the sense its time to move forward. The World Race was no quick fix for the type of life I want pursue.
I need your support.
I can’t do it without you.
My fundraising goal for the next five to six months is $8,500. I need $3,000 by July 30th to be able to move to Georgia and start the apprenticeship. $1,000 will be designated as “Apprenticeship Program Cost, the rest is salary. After taxes, I will receive on average, about $1,500/month, which will be use to cover all of my living expenses. Things like groceries, health insurance, phone bill, etc., are paid out of your support.
I will be using this same blog site from this past year. Here are a few ways you can stay connected and support me in the coming months. Read my blogs, drop a comment now and again, give financially, and pray for radical development in my walk with Jesus.
To support me financially me (either monthly, or a one time donation) go to www.nathansalley.theworldrace.org and find the support me tab on the left hand side of the page. Choose a program, and scroll down to staff support. The rest is pretty self explanatory on that page. All donations are tax-deductible. To donate by mail send your contribution to:
Adventures In Missions
P.O. Box 534470
Atlanta, GA 30353-4470
Pay to the Order of Adventures in Missions and be sure my last and first name (salleynathan) is written in the bottom left hand corner of the check, ensuring it will go to my support account.
I believe God’s a dreamer and has given me the opportunity to be a part of Kingdom Dreams. To me, life can be overwhelming without dreams. I would love for you to continue to be part of my story and my dreaming process.
Love, Nathan Salley
