12.20.10

It’s after midnight out on the Remember Nhu grounds.

I was having trouble falling asleep when I hear Nathan Boaldin tap on my tent, “You still awake man? I need you to pray for me.

We grab a couple chairs and sit not too far from where we had a fire burning about an hour ago that’s now calmed down to some glowing embers. He’s been feeling pretty sick/off for the past two days after taking a large dose of anti-parasite meds that are giving him a terrible head ache and some stomach issues.

My dad sometimes reminds me that when I was ten we were out walking door to door handing out pamphlets for one of his buddies to get elected on city council.

Hold on. Sidenote One: My dad gets headaches sometimes. Please pray for healing. Also dad, sorry I didn’t mean to out you just thought prayer is good stuff.

Ok back to story. He stops to tell me he has a terrible migraine. I think I offered to pray for it right then.

Sidenote Two: if someone tells you “I’ll pray about it…ask them if they will do it then and there. Why wait ya know?

So I prayed for my dad. I imagine it was something simple. But he reminds me of that story because very soon after his migraine went away completely. Now you can look at this a few different ways.

A) Me bragging about my young praying abilities.

B) Coincidence that it went away after I prayed.

C) Or simple faith-like prayers are answered.

I like the last one the best.

C.

So back to Boaldin. The Lord brought that day with my dad back to my mind that night. So I prayed a few things. Prayer lasted maybe a minute. I Recalled the story in my prayer of God healing my dad. Nothing verbose or overtly eloquent about my prayer this time, but as soon as I finished Boaldin started saying it was going away. Within under a minute I’d say it had completely gone away. I wish you could hear Boaldin’s Texas accent as he begins to tell me, “Salley, I…I.. kid you not, its starting to go away right now. Praise Jesus. Thank you Lord.â€ We stayed up for about an hour adding a few logs to the embers and thanking the Lord for healing Boaldin that night.

It was great.

Sidenote Three: two reasons I like Texas. Jessica Sims & Nathan Boaldin. Not related, but great people. Check out their blogs…and I probably wouldn’t say that about everyone’s. No offense to everyone’s.

Anywho, not sure exactly why God decided to answer our prayer in that way and so quickly. But I do believe He always wants his children to be healed. It doesn’t always happen physically, but Jesus is always in the business of healing people, whether we ever see the results or not.

For Boaldin, I think that God healed him that night because of his simple understanding that the Lord heals through prayer…so let’s wake up Salley and get this thing going.

For me, I think God used my prayer to show me once again that He’s listening to me.

See my prayer walk has kinda been sucking lately. Wish I could say it wasn’t but it’s seen better days. I also hate to admit this last part, but I couldn’t sleep that night before Boaldin tapped on my tent. I was battling thoughts of lust, having tried to fall asleep for the last thirty minutes to no avail.

The Lord provided me a way out of my temptations while healing Boaldin’s headache at the same time.

So Cool.

Thanks Lord,

Your Son Nathan
