What does it mean to be broken. Maybe it just means to be ruined for the ordinary. Let me explain a little. I don’t always buy into the formula marketed to the America society. It doesn’t work for me all the time. It doesn’t work for a lot of people. Its the American Dream. What is the American Dream and what is it we are dreaming of here? We say that its freedom right? But how many of us actually live in that freedom? More often than not, the American Dream is about an accumulation of things or job titles. The American Dream is a lost identity. Now don’t lump me in with that idiot Michael Moore for making comments about America. Saying that there is something that America has forgotten is something I think we can all relate too. Think about it. What is your first question when you meet someone new? Its usually about what do you do for a living or what is your career. The first question is one of identity. What you do for work is where people often attribute your identity to be. The American Dream is a bumper sticker. Its a great idea about freedom with the wrong premise to back the idea. Freedom is a dollar sign and Freedom is ordinary living that lacks fullness creativity and depth when we boil it down to career or status or personal abilities. It lets other people know that their children have large honor role brains at the Elite-Language-And Instruments-Prep-School-of-Learning, or maybe smaller brains and bigger muscles, with my son plays Football at The-Texas-We-Are-Number-One-High-School-Academy. Now I’m starting to ruffle some feathers here I know. But stick with me folks I have a point at the end of this thing and no I am not being brainwashed by Adventures in Missions. I’m just trying to get back around to what our identity actually is. Inheritance Shapes our Identity. It’s an inheritance issue more than anything. Our Inheritance is the kingdom of God because our identity is Jesus, and our Identity is Jesus because his blood is our adoption into the Kingdom. Its not an issue of me saying that I am Jesus and therefore God. I am not God, otherwise my blogs would be much more witty than they already are and I would have not gotten a ‘C’ in Reading in fourth grade. This isn’t heresy or even revolutionary thought here folk,s its merely something that we forget to take a hold of. So then what have we inherited that defines our identity? Some of you reading this blog need to understand what your inheritance is and begin to claim that over your own lives. We did not inherit a spirit of timidity or a spirit of fear but a spirit of Sonship. We are no longer slaves to our past but are sons and daughters of the Most High God. So if we then are sons and daughters we are rightful owners to an inheritance which is the kingdom of heaven. Inheritance is based on lineage, it’s a blood lineage. I am related to my dad on earth because of his blood, his genetic makeup is in me. It’s the same thing with Jesus, his blood covered my life and I now have his genetic makeup. That’s why when your personal relationship with Christ is only affecting you personally you need to reevaluate how you are choosing to sprinkle some of that inheritance on others, and for those of you that already know they have an inheritance in the kingdom its times to starts claiming that kingdom in your life so “thy kingdom” can come and “his will can be done.” Take a hold of your inheritance. I hope I didn’t loose too many subscribers on this topic or this length. I just haven’t given a meat message in a while and have been sticking to the milk so as to not step on some toes. This message is as much for me, as it is my family and friends. Nathan “Ruffles Some Feathers” Salley
