The past few days I have been struggling with the thought of selling
my car in order to fund my mission trip efforts. The idea of getting
rid of the car is not the problem. Other than the generosity through
which the car was given to me, it’s intrinsic value equals that of
dust. My struggle is with my own faith. If it joys God to provide for
my World Race efforts (and any other of my efforts for that matter),
whether I sell my car or not would make no difference in the
context of His actual provision. Provision does not equal “almost
provision or “just a little short of provision. Provision = provision.

Those concerned with financial responsibility would possibly have a
bone to pick with me. More than I have been called to make a seemingly
“financially responsible decision, I am called to be generous. If we
were to take a deeper look into what is financially responsible, I
think we would find it is more responsible to give, absurdly
give. It’s not financially responsible in the sense that we would gain
more wealth (the “health and wealth gospel is a joke). It is
responsible because the recipient of the gift would be better off. To
give is a chance to say to our brothers and sisters, your well being is
worth more than my desire to posses materials x, y or z.

I write this to encourage you all to GIVE out of your need. GIVE out
your lack.  There is nothing but blessing to be had in this. To Jesus
Christ be the glory for teaching His sheep this.
