Grace is the free and unmerited favor of God, the ultimate gift that was given to us through his son Jesus Christ. The gift of life, forgiveness, and ultimate love was given to us by the son of God laying himself down on the cross and dying for our sins. Sometimes, I find myself at the other end of the spectrum. I look back at my old self and see the wrongs I have committed, the people I have put down, discouraged, insulted. The problem seems to never go away at times. I surrounded myself with so many negative influences and habits, that I forgot that I had a higher purpose to live for. And that was to share the love of Jesus Christ to everyone I fellowship with. Even after I accepted the Lord as my savior, the problem still succumbed. It wasn’t till last night when pastor Austin Patton preached about grace and truth. He stated that grace and truth form a perfect union through Christ, but we as people don’t find the balance between them, but rather lean on one or the other. The basic summarization was that truth without grace can damage, grace without truth doesn’t change, but grace AND truth change lives. Truth acts upon us, helping us to see reality according from the lord’s perspective. As we learn to apply the truth in a gracious manner and the grace within truth, we will always reflect the love and grace of Christ to all.
