Have you ever said something like “I love you” or “you did a great job today” or something like that? I imagine you have. How long did it take you to say it? A second; maybe two? (Possibly 15-20 seconds if by chance your mouth was full of peanut butter or honey. 🙂 ). At any rate, it didn’t take long. But I would bet that it changed that person’s day. Yup. You brought a smile to their face and to their heart. And I hope you have also been on the receiving end of encouragement. It’s a pretty awesome feeling, isn’t it?
I have constantly been reminded how our words have the ability to bring life or death; joy or pain. We can sling an arrow full of hurt or we can gush out a waterfall of love. I know I have underestimated the power of our words, but oh how they can bring a life alive when we speak with encouragement and utter an uplifting phrase. “An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.” Proverbs 12: 25. A few seconds can completely alter the course of someone’s day.
I believe we all have a personal bullhorn, and we all have words of love to share. In the grand design of our Creator, we sometimes say exactly what someone needed to hear as we’re directed by the Holy Spirit. And I don’t think this applies to just people we know. I believe the world is waiting to hear how loved, cherished and valued they are. That is in fact the purpose of the ministry the Lord is calling me into; people have been destroyed by words and lies for far too long and it is time to reverse the trend. The statement “you were born to be loved” can literally change a life. As one of the teacher’s at G42 has said time and time again, “He is the Word, we’re His voice and we have something to say.” Let’s get a’talkin’, shall we? 🙂
