Attention! Attention!
There is a lice outbreak on E-Squad. I repeat, the lice have landed.
haha, ok ok – so I don't mean to make a joke out of it but it is a little funny if you think about it. 🙂
We found out we had lice when one of my teammates was picking out and killing 'fleas' that decided to nest in a fellow teammates hair (yes, weird things happen to us.)
Upon further inspection, the realization hit that they weren't fleas but rather grown up lice running around.
The size of the lice showed that they must have been festering for at least a few weeks.
A few weeks of itchy discomfort and pain.
A few weeks of ignoring a problem.
A few weeks of looking past all of the warning signs.
A few weeks of letting it grow until it become an epidemic.
How often do we do that in our lives?
How often do we let something little become an epidemic?
How often do we let the things that are abnormal and clearly uncomfortable grow?
Maybe it's a constant bickering with our spouse that has created a wedge,
or perhaps it's a slight lust problem that has become a full-fledge porn addiction.
Maybe it's the white lies that have become true deceit
or the social drinking that has become a closet thing.
Whatever it might be . . it starts out little.
It feels a little weird and abnormal.
It doesn't feel ok but it doesn't sting enough to cause too much notice
so we ignore it because maybe it's normal and we just don't know the difference.
But as the sting gets worse, we're getting used to it.
It's becoming comfortable so we continue to ignore it.
Until it effects everyone and everything around us.
Until it carries it's sting into someone else's life.
Until it rears it's ugly head and suddenly . . .
Everyone has to deal with the epidemic.
The only way to get rid of lice is to suffocate them and remove the eggs.
The only way to get rid of that thing – lying, drinking, porn, argument, negativity, whatever – is to give it to God and let Him suffocate it.
Do it before the problem becomes everyone else's problem too.
That's all.
