It’s day 2 of the World Race!!!!!! The Sunday morning started out with worship on the roof of the house we were staying in. One of my squad mates brought up the fascinating thought that every believer was worshiping our Creator even though we were in different places. We made it safely here to Santa Cruz del Quiche after quite the bus ride! We were piled into two buses, one was a school bus the other was a smaller bus. I was on the school bus. Several people had to stand up for about 3 ½ hours; which was crazy! Typical of most out-of-country bus rides we were swerving and jerking up mountain roads, holding on for dear life staring down at deep valleys.

The first day in Guatemala involved riding a crowded bus for 45 minutes to Guatemala City and staying in a house that had empty rooms for us to sleep in and lovely accommodations for food. It was so nice staying there and having delicious food for dinner and breakfast, such a blessing.
The countryside is just as beautiful as I remember it from my last trip here in February. The people are beautiful and so warm. It’s frustrating sometimes to stick out so much, especially when I realize it’s going to be like that for a whole month, actually for 11 months. Wow, that does not even sound fun. I know though that I will probably get used to it eventually… hopefully. But seriously, we have realized that we are the laughing stock of the town.

It is the rainy season here so it rains usually mid-morning and then around 4pm. Today we eventually got to our location at 4 o’clock; we began to try to set up our tents in a hurry because the rain was starting to come. It began pouring so we all just ran inside the building to wait it out. In a few minutes it stopped so we went back outside to quickly set up our tents before the next rain. Fortunately it only sprinkled a little bit after that. It’s actually pretty chilly and I’m really enjoying my North Face jacket, thanks Mom for making me take it. 😉
We have found out our team’s ministry site at least for the next few days, maybe weeks!!! We are going to an orphanage and playing and getting to know the children there. I am excited to go there because I remember going to the “baby house” last February and how adorable the children were. We will spend around 5-6 hours a day at our ministry site so I’m very excited to build relationships over the span of time.
There’s so much more to tell but I’m going to leave with this, Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
