April 2010 Ubon Rachathani, Thailand
We drove our big blue truck between the rice fields and into the grass parking lot of the church. It began to rain but it was a relief from the heat so I enjoyed the moment.
The youth that had come with us today piled out of the truck and ran off to set up for their program.
A Buddhist temple sits, not twenty feet, from where I am standing. I can see a man with a wide brim hat cutting the grass by hand. He didn’t look as though he was a monk. It was all so breathtaking but at the same time you could feel the spiritual tension in the air. As I breathed in, I could taste the incense burning in the temple, right as my eyes landed on the cross hanging on the church.
I start heading for shelter as the stream of rain picks up. I walk into the church where singing and dancing has already begun. I guess I let myself daydream a little longer than expected. I sat on the concrete floor next to a small child. Who grabbed my hand and examined it as though she could understand who I was by my fingerprint.
For half an hour we danced and sang silly songs and then the pastor of the church got up to thank us. He told us his story about how he was a Buddhist but when he was twenty he accepted Christ. He prayed for thirty -three years for a church and finally God provided the opportunity for him to be a pastor. We prayed for him and the eight members in his congregation.
It was truly a humbling experience. This man prayed diligently for thirty-three years for a church. He didn’t want anything more but to share the gospel. It is moments like these that you understand God is moving even in a land full of idols that mock him.
Please consider supporting me I have 1,000 dollars left to raise by the end of August, so that God can continue to grow me and change my heart for the those in this world. Five, Ten, Fifteen dollars can help me get one step closer. Thank you to all who have supported me and have prayed for me. I must thank you for getting me to this point.
Much Love,
Natasha
