This blog is an update more on what is going on in my life. Without meaning to, I have kind of not really told many people about the next step in my journey. Truly I have just been so focused with God has had right in front of me that focusing on the next step has not been a priority (been trying to be fully present and apparently it worked ๐ With that said though, you, my family, I want to share with you where I will be headed off to in just a week and a half!! I will be gone May 22nd, to July 22nd, super exciting! I will be heading to

Dear friends and family,
I
hope this letter finds you well. It is exciting to share with you this next
step I will be taking. As many of you know and were very much a part of, from
July 2010 to June 2011 I went on an eleven-month mission trip around the world called
the World Race. Since being back, the Lord has blessed me with a great
six-month position working for the City of Portland, which ended in
December. Currently I have been interning with The Salvation Army in the Human
Trafficking Department co-authoring a human trafficking prevention manual. Life
has been a whirlwind since being home!
So what’s next? After the recommendation from a few people I very much respect
and love, I applied for a Summer Program with the Navigators and I was
accepted! On May 22nd, I will head to Washington, DC,
where I will work as a summer intern in the office of a member of congress. There
I will participate in Inside Washington, a Summer Training Program organized by
EPIC Associates. I will live in a dorm at George Washington University with
Navigator staff and other summer interns from across the country. In the
evenings after work and on weekends we will be studying the Bible, reflecting
on our identity in Christ, and learning what it means to live as an
“Insider” in the workplace.
Washington, DC is
a center of politics, prestige and power. Working alongside the 435 Members of
Congress and 100 Senators are 20,000 Capitol Hill staff, who will be joined by
over 2,000 summer interns like me. Most of these people have not yet discovered
a personal relationship with God, and what better place for people to see our
faith and hear the Good News of Christ then the decision makers of our country?
Looks like my political science degree will get to be put to some good use! J
I could not be more excited to head to our nation’s capital. My plan was to
stay in Portland or head back overseas this summer, but God’s plan is
always so much better than ours! I know God wants to build my faith as I learn
to trust Him in new and exciting ways. God has been speaking over me comforting
verses when thinking about this next step:
Yet those who wait for
the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount
up with wings like eagles, they will
run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31
I would be honored to have you come along on this journey with me.
While on the World Race we kept an ongoing blog, and while on this project, I
will be posting to this same blog,

and email and I can subscribe you myself.
Being that living in Washington D.C. is very
expensive, and Senator’s and Representatives use their budgets to help people
instead of pay their interns ;), we do have to raise support for this summer
project. Thankfully, the EPIC team has been working hard to raise support to
offset our costs, but they are asking us to come up with $3,300 which will
cover the rest of the housing, food and program costs. The Lord completely
provided when He raised $15,000 for the World Race, so I am fully confident He
will provide again! If led to give, checks are payable to “The
Navigators” and mail checks to:

time to read some of what God is doing in this chapter of my life, and I hope
to have to join in with me!
