In the Bible there is the famous story of Jesus protecting a woman, who was found to be committing acts of adultery, from being stoned.  Most people know of his famous words “Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to cast the stone.” However, for me personally that wasn’t the most impactful part. It was the seconds before those words were said Jesus was kneeling on the ground writing something in the dirt with his finger. Now no one knows what Jesus wrote in the dirt, while standing beside that women and the crowd that was around her. There have been guesses but I know what he wrote in the dirt.

I know because I am that woman beside him. I am the woman Jesus is protecting from being stoned to death. Even though I am a sinner he still is protecting me, he looks pasts all that sin. He wrote in the ground for me that I am loved and I am forgiven and my sins are wiped clean. I am white as snow because his blood cleaned me and my sins. That is what he wrote in the ground for me. He wrote the word Forgiven. My sins and my past no longer weigh me down because he sacrificed his life for me and you. How cool is that?

There are days where I forget to look down at the writing in the sand, there are days where the enemy comes back with my past to haunt me. However Jesus is always there, his words are always in the sand to defend me. To let me know I am more than my sins and my past. He lets me know that I am made for more than sitting and sulking in my past. So, I am challenging you to look down and see what Jesus has written in the dirt for you. I challenge you to walk as a child of God and know that you are more than sins.
