So its that time of year again!! (well for some people) That is right is it Lent! A season of fasting, praying and preparing our hearts for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Lent for me is a time that since I was younger was hey lets give up soda or sugar, maybe be a little more healthy. However it wasn’t until recently that I realized that Lent is season for preparing ourselves to fully be open and accept the love that Jesus pored out. We suffer as Christ suffered to grow closer to him. Of course Christ’s suffering was purely out of love, which our fasting and preparation should be purely out of our love for the Lord. However Lent ends and turns into Easter, which is a day of celebration for our King. However for a long time it was hey lets go to church, wear a bunch of pastel colors and eat a lot of chocolate. But as I am growing closer to God, lent is becoming much more than giving up sweets.
Now you must be wondering why the title says 6 months. It says 6 months because, when Easter arrives, my preparation is still not over. I have 6 more months till I am out and about serving the Lord in 11 different countries for about a year. I still am preparing my heart to be open to Lord and open to all the experiences that he has in store for me. Of course I have to go through physical preparations, like exercise, drinking more water, getting my shots and practicing for life in a 65L backpack. Then there is the spiritual prep. It is helping me depend on the Lord more, and realize that my life should be to follow his plans. My life is in His hands and that to prepare for that I have to let go and let God. So my prep time is definitely 6 months, however there is still room to prepare my heart for Easter during this lenten season however it helping my preparations for the World Race.
