I'm just a smidge frustrated today as I write this. My mom came home yesterday and told me that she had just seen a girl walking in my neighborhood and that when she stopped and asked the girl if she needed a ride, the girl burst into tears and told her she had nowhere to go. She got in the car with my mom and proceeded to tell her that she was 19, her mom kicked her out about a month ago, she hadn't eaten and she sleeps wherever she can find for the night. She said that she called her mom to ask if she could come home and her mom told her she hopes she freezes to death. My mom fed her and gave her her gloves and asked if she wanted to come to our house but she wouldn't.

This is heartbreaking.

I told several people about this… to pray for her, that she would know she is loved, know she has a Heavenly Father who will never abandon her, know that there is hope. The response I got from the majority was "oh that sucks, oh well." Uuhhhh… here, borrow my qtip, you must need to clean the wax out of your ears. THERE IS A HOMELESS GIRL WALKING AROUND. NOWHERE TO GO. NOTHING TO EAT. NO FAMILY TO CARE ABOUT HER. NOWHERE TO LAY HER HEAD AT NIGHT. And all you have to say is "that sucks" then go on with your life??

When did we become so comfortable? So self absorbed that unless something directly affects us, we think about it for .12 seconds then don't give it a second thought? Aren't we called to care about even ONE person like this? To love them? Why doesn't this break our hearts and make us long to do something? Where did we learn to place such value on ourselves while placing none on our neighbor? Why have we mistaken this COMMAND as something to do if we feel like it?

God- forgive us when we are so selfish. Break our hearts for what breaks Yours. Teach us to love how YOU love. Bring these people in our paths so we can share Your love, so we can pray with them, give them hope, feed them, clothe them, cry with them, love on them, do anything we can. We are called to be Your hands and feet. Please don't let us be comfortable where we are, comfortable living in such luxury while there are so many people who have nothing. Break our hearts!

I John 3:17 — But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?

Galatians 6:2 — Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Hebrews 13:16 — Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
