Greetings readers!
Another quick blog to update you on the last 7 days of my journey leading up to the World Race! I’m sitting in the ATL airport waiting for my flight back to Minneapolis after surviving Training Camp. Last Saturday, I arrived in Atlanta and met up with the other 43 people who will embarking on this journey with me – I will be sure to post a picture of “H Squad” as soon as I can steal one from a teammate!
The week was packed with sessions – with topics ranging from how to cultivate a closer relationship with God to maintaining safety while on the field. Honestly, there was so much information thrown at us that I’ll need to take the next week or two to unpack and process it all. But at the end of the day, I feel much more prepared (at least as much as could be expected!) for the upcoming journey.
It’s my intention (now that I don’t have a day job…) to write additional blogs about some of my experiences at Training Camp. I don’t want to give TOO much away on my blog – in case there are future Racers out there blog-stalking (just trust me – you’ll want to experience it for yourself) – but if there’s something you specifically want to ask about, please reach out to me directly (you can click “Contact Me” on the left of this blog) and I’ll try to answer any questions!
I will also mention that I feel extremely bad for whoever has to sit next to me on the airplane. Despite my best efforts (I managed to shower FOUR times over the course of the week!), everything I have now smells like some cross between mildew and wet dog. But I do believe that I could now set up and take down my tent – rain or shine, noon or midnight – without any issues. I will also be revisiting my packing list and crossing off approximately half of the crap I have listed on there – not sure it’s really worth the pack weight to carry it around for 11 months (plus, I need room for souvenirs!).
Finally, I now know the 5 other women that I will be doing daily life with while on the Race – and I can’t wait to introduce you to them in a separate blog! For now, just know that (if I’m being totally honest) it’s not a team I ever would have chosen for myself. And praise God for that! I’ve learned from experience that God’s plans are far superior to my own and I’m excited for the opportunity to grow and learn from these 5 women!
It’s hard to believe that Launch will be in a short 6 weeks! Once I get more details about exactly when I’m leaving and where I’ll be heading to in India, I’ll be sure to share them with you. In the meantime, I’ll be working on filling out and submitting my application for an Indian visa! Things are starting to get real!
For His glory,
Nat
