This debrief is the official "go home"debrief, aka we're spending a lot of tme discussing re-entry- what to expect, what to plan, what might happen, what our opportunities are…
You get the picture.
Tonight we had a surprise.
Currently there are 4 women living in Cambodia and working with an organization called Daughters. These women spent 6 months preparing for this time and are here on the field for a year and a half. When they have 6 months left, a new team will come join them, having just spent 6 months training and planning. The two teams will work together for half a yea before the first team leaves the work in the hands of the second.
It's all part of the new ministry initiatives that AIM is starting, with groups currently in or preparing to invade Kenya, India, Thailand and Cambodia.
Last night we got to meet the first Cambodian team, and one of them was girl that I already knew.
Her name is Stephanie, and she's one of the Racers that I creeped on before my own launch.
These women sat and spoke with us a little of their experiences so far in getting women (and now lady boys) off the streets, teaching them English and how to sustain themselves, and sharing the Gospel with them. We heard stories of babies in need of urgent medical attention saved through prayers, beaten and abused lady boys now redeemed and restored who are stepping up as leaders where before they were outsiders, women who have overcome by the power of the Living Savior and are now using their lives to save others.
Debriefs are wonderful.
It's great to catch up with the rest of the squad, grabbing coffee (just like we're real people!) while we dream ad scheme and try to bribe each other to move to our hometowns.
It's nice to sleep in a bed, with hot showers and "real"food.
It's fun to roam around the city, exploring and finding hidden gems.
But, at the end of the day, it's awesome to come together as a squad, to worship and to pray, to hear about the things that are still happening on the streets just outside, to pray for the people whose lives have been dedicated to the task of bringing the God's kingdom here on earth, and to prepare for Sunday when we get back out onto the field to join them.
Follow their adventures:
