This month we are partnering with YWAM ministries (Youth with a mission). We are living in their guest house which is similar to a hostel in Chang Mai Thailand. We have three separate ministries that we are concentrating on this month. I want to tell you a little about each one and in future blogs I may write more about the specific people we have met.
The first ministry is to the university students at one of the largest universities in Chang Mai. Each day we catch a ride to the coffee shop that YWAM runs and go into the nearby university and meet students and build relationships. This campus has 30,000 students so it is God working when we happen to run across the same person more than once. We also have opportunities to work in the coffee shop and meet the people that stop there.
The second ministry is to a poor neighbourhood called the slums. We go into the area and meet the people and play with the children. We love on them and pray for them. We are told that many of the people that live in this neighbourhood are involved in the sex trade industry as they have limited opportunities for education and employment. I was excited to find out that Compassion International has sponsors for some of these children.
The third ministry is to the men and women that are working in the sex trade industry. We go into the bars and make friendships with the people working there. Our main focus is to show love and acceptance to the people in this industry and show them hope for a different future.
At each ministry we see God’s hand guiding us to the people that he wants us to reach out to. I see God working in the converstations we have with strangers on the street each day. God has blessed me with this opportunity and I want to thank each of you that have supported me with your prayers and finances.
I want to ask each one of you to prayerfully consider financially supporting myself or one of my team members. Each member of our squad needs to be fully funded by July 1st in order to continue on for the remaining 5 months of this journey. You have an opportunity to join God in this work.
