“Where there is no
vision, the people perish.” Proverbs
29:18a KJV

I’m stoked for 2013.
It’s the first time in years I sat down before the New Year and wrote
out real concrete goals.  I’m fairly
driven, but organizing my hopes and dreams on paper is normally something I
avoid.  In the past I haven’t wanted to
deal with the fall out if I fall short.

While I was in Mexico a few weeks ago, inspiration hit!  Everyone else was sleeping and my pen
couldn’t move fast enough across my journal page.  It was one of those awesome God moments – I
was filled with excitement not because of what I wanted to do in 2013, but
because God has amazing plans for this next year and I get to ride along.

Between Christmas and New Years I embraced my inner nerd and
read a few books on goal setting then typed everything up complete with action
steps and due dates.  This process gave
me renewed vigor towards the hard season of fundraising I’m in.

Taking a step back
and looking at the beautiful things this season of discipline is going to
produce makes it easier to fight through the day-to-day difficulties.

Like an overexcited kid, I’m pretty stoked to share some of
the ministry goals God has given me for this year.

  • I have a committed prayer team of 100 people. –
    January 31, 2013
  • I am at 100% funding. – March 31, 2013
  • I have started a new blog (April 2013) and have
    500 subscribers. – December 2013
  • I have brought 4 more churches into the mission
    work I’m doing. – November 2013
  • I’m immersed in the process of planning a big local
fundraising walk for 2014 that supports orphans in Swaziland. – June 2013
  • The annual walk across Swaziland I get to lead –
    Steps Over Swaziland – includes 25 Americans and 25 Swazi’s. – July 2013
  • 250 youth have gone through Orphan For a Day. –
    November 2013
  • Partnering with Cindy and Jose Luis Pesina we have planned and led 4 teams to Mexico with
    50 total participants – December 2013

  • There is an optional weekly Bible study and
worship time before FAB. – May 2013
  • Fill-A-Belly is now operating in two new
    locations. – September 2013

After writing these out, I realized that every single goal
requires a group!  It’s not about me, or what I can do; it’s about bringing a team of
people together to accomplish the purposes God has set!!!
If you want to be part of all this let me
know – maybe it’s coming on a mission trip, helping lead a Bible study for the
homeless or volunteering at an Orphan for a Day event.

I’m currently working on setting up a prayer team who I’ll
e-mail about once a month with specific requests.  Comment or e-mail if you would like to be included on that list.

I would love to hear about your goals this year!  Leave a comment and
let me know what you are most excited about for 2013?
