Wow, what an amazing, jam packed, crazy, beautiful last few days it’s been.
I’m at the point where the days are blending together. After a flight to New York and a 16 hour flight from there to Johannesburg, we made it to South Africa. It was morning there when we arrived, then we all hopped into our van for the week for the 6 hour drive to Nsoko. Everything was running smoothly, and amazingly enough we were on schedule and moving forward as planned.
Then about an hour from the Swazi border the van started to sputter and smoke. Eliott our driver could not get it to go any faster then 20 mph. We would coast down the hills and try to get enough speed to make it back up. Finally a big hill was our undoing, the van stopped, and we were stuck on the side of the road. The Swazi staff in AIM had us covered and was already sending another vheicle. Our team took some time to pray then played invisible football (which is hysterical.) It was an amazing time to stop, look again at what God has for us, and be open to God’s plans instead of our own. The replacement vheicle showed up in about an hour and we were on the road again.
Because we were running late we ended up spending the night at the AIM team house in Manzini instead of going straight to Nsoko. We got to go out to a nice dinner (happy birthday Kevin) and fall exhausted onto some foam mats on the floor. After 3 days on no sleep we all were out in a matter of seconds.
This morning we made the short trip to Nsoko and finally arrived at the Care Point. To me it felt like coming home. We all jumped right in with the kids, it was hard to go inside for orientation with Pastor Gift, but it was wonderful to see him and hear his heart for Nsoko. Gift asked if we could go pray with a woman named Mswane who he has been helping take care of. She is 19 and dying of AIDS, she has sores all over her body and her skin is calcified and infected. Gift told us about how she contracted AIDS through rape when she was 6 years old. To be continued…
My battery is dying so I have to post before loosing power. Please keep praying for us, we can feel your prayers!
