I’ve been in the US for one week. It’s been a roller coaster, and honestly my emotions have been all over the place. I’ve had trouble being productive, but I’m learning not to base my identity on productivity. This morning I woke up with renewed energy and readiness to tackle what’s ahead, that might change by lunchtime so I’m seizing the moment to write a quick update!
The good news is that despite my inability to get things done God has been working. Go figure, God works even without my help =)!
This weekend the Junior High Students at North Coast Calvary Chapel are doing an “Eggsellent” Walk-a-Thon for Nsoko. We walk on Saturday morning so be praying for us! The students collected donations from the congregation and have already brought in over $500. Their goal is to make enough money to buy chickens for Nsoko, so that the kids can have more protein through eggs in their diets.
I’m excited for students to see that their actions make a direct impact on others and I’m hoping that we raise a lot of money. I’m walking with the students; so if anyone wants to support me let me know. I love knowing exactly where our gifts are going.
This last weekend I was asked to prepare a five reading for our church women’s retreat. After much deliberation, I decided to
read my last blog “Truly, Fully, Alive.” I love speaking and writing, but reading my writing for a group is hard for me. God used what I shared to lead into great conversations about Swazi with a lot of the women.
One of those conversations was such a God connection that I’m still am shaking my head. After I shared with the group, I was at lunch. That morning the speakers asked us to journal our passions. The lady I was sitting next to, a Lawyer who helps start businesses and non-profits, started talking with me. She told me that her passion was feeding hungry children. As we continued talking she reveled that she sold Juice Plus and said that one of the things God’s put on her heart to do is start a nonprofit where Juice Plus distributors donate 10% of their profits in product, and then that product is given to malnourished children who need it.
