Awesome video about the “Arms of Jesus” houses edited by Andrew Mass
When Pastor Mike told us that it was possible for a team of 6 volunteers to build a house for a Guatemalan family in four hours I didn’t know what to think. I’ve built houses in Mexico a number of times but they always take the better part of a week and the team has to scramble to finish. So yesterday, Andrew, Brad, (Mike and Nancy’s neighbor) and I went along with a team from Florida to help build.
The prefab houses are incredible. They cost $1,000 and come in pieces on the back of a truck. Mission teams assemble them like a giant jigsaw puzzle. We spent the morning unloading the materials for an entire house off the back of the truck. After that I got to take a few swings with the hammer and make a sad attempt at sawing some boards. I have a lot of abilities, but looking coordinated while trying to saw is not one of them. Within four hours the house was up and the family was able to explore their new home.
