When I sat up on
my bed this morning I had no ideas all the amazing things God had in store for the day. I walked into Mike and Nancy’s wonderfully
Americanized home and smelled something beautiful,
fresh coffee with creamer, French toast, bacon and sausage. Good breakfasts are my favorite. Since being here we haven’t been allowed to want for anything. Mike and Nancy have this wonderful theory that being a missionary shouldn’t mean that you have to eat bugs and I LOVE that!!!

After eating our team took some time to
pray for each other and for our upcoming time at the lake. I might be biased but our team is the best!
The next treat was a trip to the Antigua
gym with Nancy. I love endorphins; it was so nice to get some energy out! Emilie and I had planned on meeting at the hospital at 12:00 pm to work with the babies again. I had to rush home and take glorious
hot shower (I think it’s my 5th hot one in the last 2 months) then power walk to the hospital.
When we got into the baby ward, I immediately went to find Andrea, my favorite baby. When I walked into the small room there was a stunning women dressed in traditional clothing holding one of the tiny babies I have ever seen. Juana explained that her baby Joselyn has Down syndrome and is actually a year old. She has been in the hospital for the last five days and is waiting for heart surgery. Today was the first time that Juana had been able to visit Joselyn because she is a single mom with 6 kids and lives 2 hours away by bus.
It was heart wrenching to watch Juana cradle her tiny baby and soak up time with her. Later on I stepped outside while holding another kid and met Juana’s other children, Jenny who was 5 and loved talking (I couldn’t understand her, but that didn’t seem to make much of a difference) and Juanito who was a tiny 10 year old.
Eventually Juana stepped outside and explained to me that they needed to get home because it was 2:00 pm and the kids hadn’t eaten yet. Emilie and I offered to
buy them some lunch from the street vendors outside and Juana gladly accepted. She must have thanked us 100 times. She even shared her thermos full of coffee with me; it was obvious that she wanted to give back what she could. At the end of our time together we had a chance to pray for their beautiful family.
After the hospital I had a chance to sit in a beautiful coffee shop and then buy a new book. I eventually came back to the house for another home cooked dinner and a movie with the team. Basically the last few days have rocked. God willing we are busing to the lake tomorrow morning.
