Sunday was spectacular! A thoroughly beautiful day! We were woken up early and told to grab out swim suits and get ready for an hour long ride to a worship service. Our group piled into the vans and snaked deeper and deeper into the jungle. The hills covered in tropical forest were shockingly green. During the drive we laughed and got pretty creative making up new adjectives for sweat.

The service was packed, the church full of vibrant life, the worship loud. Afterwards I got away from the group and spent some time getting to know the local people. It was difficult, most of the children and older women only spoke Choel a native dialect nothing like Spanish. Eventually I got some one to translate for me from Spanish to Choel. The hospitality that we were shown was inspiring. They actually killed a cow in our honor. After days of P.B.J. it was a welcome treat.

Our next surprise was going to Agua Azuel, flowing waterfalls with bright blue pools to explore and swim in. We played and laughed drinking in the beautiful creation. Hoping from one pool to another and jumping off a 12 foot falls.

Once back at the camp I saw a tarantula near where we sleep, I’m much more comfortable with them in the zoo! I tell myself that there is no way it could fit through the 2 inch gap under the door of the room I’m sleeping. Slowly I’m getting used to living in these conditions again. My bag is even infested with ants, oh fun. I lay on the ground at night praying that they don’t climb on me.

I’m soaking up all the knowledge I can during this last week of training. A.I.M. leadership has told us that the A team (which I’m a part of) will be moving at the end of this week and officially starting our ministry in Mexico. We will be going out to the village we attended church in, staying with families, and helping to plant churches out there. I don’t know exactly what the days will consist of, but I’m excited to see what God does!
