Today I left Seattle slightly stressed out even though I had an amazing time there.
I was running late which always frustrates me.
I got lost twice, trying to find the freeway despite detailed directions and a map thoughtfully provided by Alaina (note to teammates DO NOT put me in charge of orienteering, unless you really enjoy the scenic routes.)
Also, it was morning, which has never been my optimal time of day.
I was feeling pretty darn cranky!
As I got out of my car at the gas station I was greeted with a warm smile and a sweet “good morning honey” by the grandfatherly attendant.
At that point my windshield could have kept any self-respecting 7 year old bug collector entertained for hours.
The attendant immediately started washing my windshield.
I’ve never had an attendant at a pump your own gas place wash my windshield.
Some of the other customers even got a little jealous but all in good fun.
After the quick stop I got back in the car in a much better mood.
God used the little things, a kind word, an act of service, and a genuine smile to make a big difference in my day.
The rest of the day was wonderful; I had a mellow time catching up with my friend Molly in Salem OR.
We have been friends since kindergarten and still get along which I think is pretty cool.
Tomorrow I head back to Bend OR to spend some more time with my family.
Thanks for your prayers as I continue to seek what God has for me in the months before the “official” beginning of the World Race.
