The destination of the week is Seattle, visiting my best friend Alaina.
Beautiful trees turning colors, whole days where I never take my jacket off, lots and lots of green.
I’m definitely enjoying fall in its splendor.
Living in San Diego for the last few years has made me miss fall, but I definitely don’t mind skipping out on winter!

Traveling has made me slow down a lot.
It’s completely different for me to be more dependent on other people’s agendas instead of my own, but it’s good for me and actually refreshing.
Right before leaving Bend, I got a call from Jon (one of my 2007 World Race friends) and he needed a ride from Portland to Seattle.
It was awesome to get to see him and digest a little of what happened during training.
Something he said really stuck out to me “When I stay with people I try to be a blessing to them in some way.”
As selfish as this might sound I had never thought of intentionally trying to bless people when I stayed with them.
God used that comment to change my attitude about this trip.
Not that I’m a perfect guest, or anything close, but I have made more of an effort to be aware of how God wants to use me in the lives of those around me.

One comment that was made at training has been ringing in my ears for the last few weeks.
“Most of what you do won’t be big, it’s about the little things, praying for some one, holding a baby, having a meaningful conversation, painting a wall, etc.”
I’ve never been very good at the little things.
I tend to get caught up in grandiose visions and forget all the little things I met to do.
Right now God is working with me on the little things, being aware and accountable.
It totally freaks me out to write this on a public blog, because I have so far to go in this area, but I also know that “…he who begins a good work in you will carry it on until completion….” (Philippians 1:6)
