We’re not in Kansas anymore. (10/03/12)
On October first, my squad woke up at 3am in order to start our travel day to our second country….Haiti. When we crossed the border it was so completely different. We were not in the DR anymore. It’s hard to believe only a small boundary separates the two countries but they couldn’t be more different from one another.
When we arrived at Port Au Prince we loaded onto our third bus of the day as the sun was going down. The city of Carrefour is not that far from Port Au Prince but it took us nearly two hours to get through traffic. The hot air and intoxicating smell of the diesel made me nauseous, I was exhausted from traveling all day and I was still mourning the Dominican Republic.
As we continued to our new house we couldn’t help but notice the tent cities that went for miles and miles. There were people in swarms tapping on the glass asking us to buy the items they were selling. There were hoards of individuals congregating in the shadows. It just seemed so dark and disorderly. However, in the chaos I heard the Lord speak saying, “These are my people who need Me.” The Lord kept saying, “I want to bring blessings, revival and peace to this nation,” which I fully believe he will.
Stay tuned for our living arrangements and our ministry this month.
