I
just wanted to catch you guys up a little bit on what has been going on over
the past month or so…

 Last
month, after about 60+ hours worth of train rides and layovers we reached our
final destination: Timisoara, Romania. We stayed with an amazing American
family, the Poggemiller’s, who has lived in Romania for around 8 years. Dwight
set us up working with several different ministries for our time there.

Our primary ministry was with The Potter’s
House
-founded
in 2000 by Dr. Oana Stoian Ciucure as an answer to the needs of street children
in Timisoara, and to share with them the Good News and love of Jesus Christ.
Ten children came to live and take
part in The Potter’s House, and by September
2000, they officially became part of the Residential Program.  In 2007,
legislation changed and the living space was declared too small to
accommodate
10 children at the house.

Since
then, children from disadvantaged families have been involved
in the Day
Program. The Day Center is for children from disadvantaged families with a high
ri
sk of abandonment. The children are provided with one meal per day, help in
completing their homework, recreational-educational activities, computer
classes, summer camps, and counseling. W
e worked at the Day Center- helping
with homework, teaching English, teaching about other cultures that we have
visited throughout this year, playing basketball, sorting clothes, as well as a
variety of other needs.

We
instantly bonded with the children that we worked with and saw each day. On the
first day we went one of the boys named Tony went around and offered each one
of us mints. He was so cute! Each day we would eat lunch with the children when
they first arrived at the center, and it was amazing to see how they prayed.
When asked for a volunteer to pray for lunch, at least 3 hands would go up and
each would take their turn to thank the Lord and bless the meal.

“But Lord, You
are our Father. We are like clay, and you are the ; Your hands made us all. The
hand of our Creator is molding our lives like the potter does with a piece of
clay.”
Isaiah
64:8

Another
ministry that we took part in was helping clean/do some construction for a
pastor friend of Dwight’s named Danny. He, his wife Angie, and their family
blessed us tremendously. We knew
we would hit if off with them instantly when
he off
ered to make us all espresso the first time we went to their home. ha Several mornings Danny came over to pick us up bright and early and drive us
out into the village where his church was located.
Even
though it was definitely early, we always managed to have a good time! Some older women from his
congregation would always bring us food and tea and kiss each of our cheeks as
we left to get back to work- they were so precious.

I’m
currently in Moldova…there will be more to come on that soon!
