So, I realized something the other day. Something that I have known in the back of my mind all along, but just finally clicked. I think that many times on this race and with this ministry, we are sent to places and feel like we aren’t doing enough. We feel like we should be doing more- evangelizing more, hanging out with children more, speaking more, whatever it may be. However, the Lord uses us to encourage our contacts. We often times overlook that aspect of the ministry because we don’t feel like it’s enough. In reality, the Lord has specifically placed us and we are called to encourage our contacts and each other just as much as we are called to any other aspect of ministry on this race.

Our contact this month is a pastor by the name of David. The other day, we hadn’t seen him all that day because he had gone into town to take care of some things. He came over that night to meet us, and as he was walking with Charlotte and I..we were all laughing about something and he looked over at us and said,

“I missed you guys today- I didn’t laugh all day until now.”

And it was in that moment, I realized that even though we have been speaking (a whole lot this month), and even though we have been playing with children, and even though we are going to be starting a crusade tomorrow (Wednesday) that will last through Sunday, we were placed here to encourage this man specifically and bring some laughter and joy into his dry soul.

“Therefore encourage one another
and build each other up, just as you
are in fact doing.”
-1 Thessalonians 5:11
