In an attempt to stay focused on why I’m doing this–which is to talk about my call to missions, worship and talk about God, share my struggles and joys before + during the Race–  I’ve decided to try and do  a weekly segment. It’ll be WORSHIP WEDNESDAYS. I’ll write song lyrics or poetry or psalms or just rants of praise each Wednesday.

For my whole life, God has spoken to me most vividly through 2 main sources: 1) His Word and 2) Music. And while I try to quote or refer to Scripture in all my blog posts, I realized I haven’t really mentioned or shared lyrics in which God has taught me, corrected me, amazed me, or reminded me of why he deserves all praise, adoration and worship.

One of my favorite “modern hymns” is by a band called Rend Collective.  I saw them live at a Chris Tomlin concert back in Kentucky a few years ago and I immediately went to the promotions table and bought their cd. And I’m so glad I did!! That cd, ORGANic* family hymnal, is still in heavy rotation in my car.

The song “Broken Bread” on that album was instrumental in me letting go of my own plans, and accepting the plans that God was showing me. As I prayed about World Race and began my application, this song was on REPEAT!

Ok, so without further ado: Broken Bread by Rend Collective.

May I be broken bread,

may I be poured out wine.
May I incarnate

Your kindness, Lord.

Spend my life Jesus,

anyway You please.
Whether on great things,

or what seems small.

Your will done your way.
Your will done your way.
Your will done your way.

I will not fight You.
Take me past the line that my heart draws!
I will not fight You.
Take me beyond the laziness of my thoughts!
I will not fight.
Lead me further than I’ve gone before!
I will not fight You;
I’m abandoned to Your call!

Do not let there be

any part of me
that’s untouchable, unreachable.

Let my delight be

living out Your dreams:
Washing dirty feet and kissing yours

God, let Your dreams come true, dream through us!
God, let Your dreams come true through us!

Dream through us.
