N squad and I arrived in Quito, Ecuador around 11 PM Friday night. We then stood in line for about an hour and half, picked up our bags, and found the people that we taking us to the place where we were going to stay. By the time we got there and got ready for bed it was around 2:15 in the morning. Needless to say we were exhausted but so excited to finally officially be on the World Race.
Saturday morning my Team and I visited a lady that we will be working with on Saturday mornings. Her name is Anita and she is 29 years old. On Saturdays she lets the kids for all around the neighborhood come to her house and she does activities with them and tells them about Jesus. These kids are from a pretty poor community and most of their parents are catholic. She can have anywhere from about 20 to 100 children at her house every weekend AND she does this by herself. This woman has an amazing heart for the children of her community and wants so much for them to know Jesus and to grow up without getting into trouble. So basically for the next 3 weekends team Doulos will help here will lessons and activities and give her a little bit of a break.
Today (Sunday) We attended church in Carapungo and met the pastor and some of the community we will be working with for the next 3 weeks. Our job will most likely change every day. We could be painting and doing construction, hanging out with the children, or going to visit the people of Carapungo.

It feels like I was in Washington DC at launch forever ago. I feel like I’ve been here in Quito forever already, and it’s just been 2 days. This is all still so surreal to me.

I’m ready to love on people.

I’m ready for God to break me.

I’m ready to become new.

This is just the beginning!

By the way…my wonderful team mate/worship leader/ translator Meredith introduced us to this song last night and I fell in love!
Listen 🙂
