I have been home for now 6 weeks. I wish I could tell you that I am now planning my next trip around the world. My answer is… I’m staying put … for now!

I won’t be going to Africa, South America, Europe, or South East Asia like a few of my squad mate are.

I have decided to stay home and finish my education. I will be going back to school in the fall, to get my degree in Radiology. Hopefully if I’m not tired of being trapped in a classroom for two years, I would like to further my education and get my Ultrasound tech degree.

Staying in one place for more than a month, not having to pick up and leave is a great feeling.

Last year at this time I was digging holes, and to tell u the truth even though it was hard and I really hated it. I would take digging holes in Quito, Ecuador any day to being in a classroom.

The thing is I know I have to get it done and over with. Get my degree so I can help others better than I am already.

I know I will miss everything about the race! My team’s that I had the pleasure of getting to know. The people and children I was able to meet along the way that have just taken my heart. Like my babies in Bolivia, I will always remember their faces even thou I know they will never remember me.

I have come a long way since the beginning of the race till the end, till now.

I have learned to appreciate life more, and not take things for granted.

I have learned to just listen for God instead of looking for him.

I have learned to be myself, and be strong in the things I do.

To speak strong and let my words be a teaching point to others.

I have learned to just follow God.
