Rain helps the earth grow and prosper. It helps bring life to everything. What if the rain never stops raining? It goes on for days and days at a time, making the rain a great destroyer to everything in its path vegetation, roads, homes, and people.

In Machavia Mozambique the city I am staying at this month has seen rain for three days in a row. I’m not just talking a slow and steading rain. I’m talking about down pour off and on with the rain never letting up. Forecasts say that the rain will continue to rain heavy for three more days, and the rain all together won’t stop till Sunday. That’s a total of five more days counting today which is Wednesday.

Talking to our contact she says that there are already many homes a few miles away that are flooded, or starting to be under water. The homes of many are flooding with dirt floors, make shift doors, and roofs. Many have now where to go, so they stay waist deep in water, praying and waiting for the heavens to stop raining. Our neighbors next to us are already seeing flooding in their yard. Seeing them sitting on a patch of wet grass out of the way of the rising water just breaks my heart. Not only that when the rain comes so do the many frogs and mosquitos. With malaria already being a problem here, it will only increase the chances because of all the sitting water.

The people next door, their yard starting to flood

This photo was taken yesterday. I wonder how high the water is now?

As I sit in my room writing, the rain coming down hard on the metal roof, making it sound like 100 times magnified. The power going off and on from time to time during the day and throughout the night. I have never been in a situation that it rains like crazy for days at a time.

Lord God your heavens have been coming down for days now and will continue to rain until Sunday. I’m asking you to let the heavens stop raining so your earth may have time to dry, so that Mozambique may have a chance to dry.
