Adventures to the center of the earth…well sort of! Today we had an off day, so as a squad we went to the Equator! It was a change to see the sun and to have a clear day. In the morning not a cloud in the sky. It was great! Getting to the Equator was a little difficult. We walked 15mins to get a bus which half of us got on. Got dropped off at a point where another bus picked us up, and dropped us off where the other team was. Then we picked up another bus, which let me tell you were standing room only with all 60 of us plus locals was a little changeling, but I will have to get used to worse situation.

One of the many bus rides!

As people where getting on and off a young women with her little girl maybe around 2 years of age sat next to where I was standing. The person next to her left, so I sat down. The little girl was so cute. I asked Emily to
ask her what her name is, because I speak no Spanish.

She said her name is Annalisa. So I start playing with her, and she looks down at my world race bracelet. I gave her my gray bracelet, and put it on her little arm, and said muy bonito in Spanish, which is very beautiful. Giving her that bracelet lit up her little face. Those dark brown eyes, and light brown hair. She reached into her little cloth purse around her neck and pulled out a bracelet and gave it to me. I told her gracias “thank you”, and gave her a kiss on the cheek. That little girl, made me happy. I didn’t expect anything in return. It’s a light green plastic bracelet. It might not mean anything to some people, but to me I will always remember this little girl name Annalisa. I said good bye, when they got off the bus. I was smiling from ear to ear.

Walking to the equator!
I'm on the Equator!!!

So we get to the Equator and we look around and take many pictures. I never in my short life would have imagined that I would be in Ecuador, or the standing on the Equator. It was a very nice experience. I can’t wait the many other experience that will be coming my way in the 11 months that I will be gone.
