The definition of fear
Fear- is a distressing negative emotion induced by a perceived threat. It is a basic survival mechanism occurring in response to a specific stimulus, such as pain or the threat of danger.
We all have fear, if we didn't then we wouldn't be human. Fear helps us survive, by instinctively being cautious around the unknown's. People develop fears as a way of learning and growing. Like a child learning to not cross the road without a parent, because the fear of getting hurt. Or the way a parent teaches a child not to go with strangers.
Fear should never define the person you are. You can have fear, but being able to handle your fears and able to work to get better at overcoming your fear makes you a stronger person. We all have fears, mine is fear of being left alone in a big body of water. Reason being at a young age I was left along at a party and I wondered towards the pool and jumped in. To make a long story short I couldn't swim and somehow I got out. I still remember that day even thou I was only 4. Even thou that had happened to me, I love the water and feel so free swimming in a pool or the ocean, as long as I have someone with me. You have to be able to face fear or you truly will miss out on the joys of life.
We all have fears, and we all can overcome them. With less than three months left "The World Race July "W" Squad", all have fears. Most of us right now have the fear of, if we don't meet the first goal of $3,500 before we go to training camp then we can't go. Then if we do have the first goal, then in the back of our heads we say, "Well what about the $6,500, we have to raise before July 1st the day we lauch. I hope I can make to be able to go." Then there are the many racers that want to raise the ful amount of money needed so they won't be sent home! That is a fear that will be over our heads if we haven't raised the ful amount before we left.
