The World Race allowed me to work for many organizations and ministries. When I reflect on my year and think about which organizations I want to support, I am so thankful for the organizations that have been a part of my life for years. I wish I could support them all financially, through volunteer hours, and daily prayer! However, it is not possible to do everything I want to do…everyday, but with YOU maybe we could make a dent. If you are looking for an organization to volunteer with, or pray for, or help financially, maybe one of these will be the perfect fit for you.

Young Life– Teen Ministry

“Every adolescent will have the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ and follow Him.”

I have loved Young Life since I was a kid. My mom’s side of the family has been involved with this organization for years. I was able to go to Young Life camp in Minnesota when I was in high school and participate in the Bloomington-Normal Club. Throughout my college years I spent summers in Minnesota, New York and Colorado working at Young Life camps. After college I was a volunteer leader for three years. Young Life is so much fun!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes- Coaches, Campus, Camp and Community Ministry

“To see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.”

I attended FCA Bible studies all through high school. I loved our Thursday morning meetings in Mr. Gold’s classroom. I have been a volunteer FCA leader for five years. I love sports and have always admired athletes. My senior class ring had the FCA logo because it was such a big part of my spiritual growth in high school.

Compassion International- Children Ministry

“In response to the Great Commission, Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.”

For $38 a month a child will get tutoring, nutritious snacks and meals, Christian education, have medical and dental check-ups, birthday and Christmas presents and many opportunities through the local center. This year on the World Race I have come across a few kids that are sponsored through Compassion. I was able to meet my little girl, Yennifer, in Guatemala a couple of year ago. This meeting was life changing and led me to run a marathon in honor of Compassion.

Healing Waters- Water Project

“Healing Waters International empowers local ministry partners to bring physical, social, and spiritual transformation to poor communities by providing sustainable, safe water solutions.”

I first heard about Healing Waters through my professor at the University of Denver. My connection with him led to a unit at school about the problems with drinking water in Latin America. This led to a new Guatemalan friend that worked for Healing Waters in Guatemala City. I was able to meet him and his family and have a tour of this organization.

After a year of buying water because the tap water is not potable, I have a new heart for clean drinking water for everyone. $25 provides drinking water for life for one person. Instead of buying a new shirt, buy someone water and give their life new meaning!

Word Made Flesh- Helping Women out of Prostitution

“Word Made Flesh is called and committed to serve Jesus among the most vulnerable of the world’s poor. This calling is realized as a prophetic ministry for, and an incarnational, holistic mission among the poor. We focus our energy to make Jesus known among the poor while reconciling the church with the poor.”

I was blessed to work with this organization month one of the World Race. I loved watching these women learn new skills. I also admired all the women that worked for Word Made Flesh.
