Facebook.  Good or bad.  Necessary or excessive.  That’s not my debate.  In my life, my family is spread across the country, I have met some amazing people in the Philippines and my friends from Zambia.  And now I have friends from all over Europe, and hopefully soon Africa and Asia.  Facebook is a common thread of communication between us.  Email is no longer a ‘cool’ thing to do!  Facebook is an amazing tool to use in communication.  I love Facebook.

But there comes a point when some of us must admit that Facebook is seeping into our lives too much. Our friendships aren’t official until each accept the request. Relationships now have a level of ‘Facebook official’. The simple act of downloading Facebook on phones can make Facebook mobile. Scrolling through the home page is a vacuum, sucking you into everyone’s lives. Petty things, news, links to articles, advertisements, pictures… anything you name, it’s found on the home page.

For me, I’m on one of the greatest adventures, and I can’t let Facebook control me. I’m in South Africa. Let me say again, because it hasn’t sunk in for me yet. I’m in Africa!!!!! Right now I am watching one gorgeous sunset above an Africa village, having great conversations about ants attacking and the King of Swaziland. Honestly I would have missed it if I said yes to Facebook to say no to sitting at this picnic table.

So therefore I have decided to say no to Facebook, so I can say YES. I’m saying no to something good, to say yes to something greater. I am saying YES to spend more time with my squad mates. I’m saying YES to be present in Africa. I’m saying YES to blogging more, and sharing my story/growth. I am saying YES to spending more time with the Lord.

So if you are reading this, (thanks for reading it!) I am unavailable on Facebook for the next month. I would suggest you subscribe to my blog! This just means you will receive an email when I update my blogs. I would also love emails. If you need to get a hold of me, or just want to ask more questions, please feel free to email me. **[email protected]** Encouragement is also much appreciated! Prayer requests are welcome! Just know where my heart is, and that’s on what God wants for me. And right now, it’s no Facebook, and yes to God!
