A Prayer Answered

Cha-yen is the BEST drink ever.  For 10 baht (30 cents), I can buy a bag of Cha-yen.  This drink is an orange colored tea with evaporated milk and sweet condense milk – my favorite – and comes in a bag of ice with a straw.  Thais usually sell this tea from a cart; I was craving this tea yesterday – looking up and down the street for someone selling it.  I asked every shop in range.  I found no one.  I asked God to introduce me someone who sells Cha-yen near our house because I thought it would be an easy inlet to build a relationship in hopes of an opportunity to share Christ, so I put my trust in God that He would bring someone to pass.

I didn’t get any Cha-yen – yesterday.

After Sunday lunch, we traveled to the market because I was still craving Cha-yen.  We found a man selling the tea from his cart; as you imagined, I was super excited!!   I ended up gulping my first tea, only to find myself asking them to refill my bag with a second.  I was so HAPPY!!  However, my prayer hadn’t completely been answered because I couldn’t walk by myself to the market – it is too far.  I was still overly excited about my Cha-yen upon my return home.  We were drawing close to our place to read and write blogs, when I hear Jiap, our translator, shouting my name, “Mow-lly! Mow-lly” She had found a lady selling Cha-yen only yards from our house.  I was full from my two bags, but I delighted that my prayer was answered – Praise be to God – AMEN!!

I walk over to the lady’s house.  We begin talking, and I hear a form of English come from her mouth!  I am in aww of the God’s answer to my prayer.  But it gets even better!!  She is from Thailand and worked with the US Army during the Vietnam War in the supply buildings.  After the war was over, she worked in a hotel in Bangkok for thirty years.  Recently, she has moved in with her older sister because her sister is sick. She is sixty-seven and never been married.  She has many friends in America – some married and some retired – and I pray that she will gain one more before the next two weeks are over.  I am excited to learn more about her life and share the love of Christ with her.  God’s answers to our prayers are always better than ever expected – for His ways are GREATER!!

P.S.  I bought my third Cha-yen of the day from her…and I hope there will be more to buy from her in the near future!!  Maybe she will teach me how to make it, and I can share it with you!!
