This summer has flown by, and I will be leaving in less than a week to embark on the World Race.
To bring you up to date…
My last day of teaching was June 4, 2007!!
Everyday of my first year of teaching, I asked God to guide the days and provide opportunities to show Christ’s love to His children.
My students came from all ends of the spectrum – with fun-loving parents to parents involved in severe addictions.
However, by the end of the year, I was able to see gifts inside each one of them and do my best to bring them out.
Some children enjoyed the challenges associated with math and science, while other students desired to read all day.
It was inspiring to see each child come alive in the classroom at some point. We had some exciting times as children were filled with “aha” moments, as well as some difficult times.
In the spring, I had a father of one of my students pass away.
Although it was a hard time, I was able to thank God for placing me as her teacher and nurture her as I would have wanted my teacher to do when I was nine.
Overall, I thank God for the experiencing and placing each student in my class – all having a special place in my heart!!
After spending some time moving to my parents’ place, I flew to Georgia to prepare to lead a team of eleven girls to Ireland.
The girls live in multiple States, met together for the first time in the Atlanta airport, trained together, and were ready to leave for the green grass of Ireland.
It was truly amazing to see how
thirteen (eleven girls plus two leaders) princesses in Christ could become so close in such a short amount of time.
People in Ireland couldn’t believe we only met a week before continuing on our journey.
Our team was a group of PRAYER WARRIORS – praying up to six hours a day.
It is one thing to pray and have faith seeds are planted, but it is a complete blessing to see prayers answered day after day.
We worked closely with OM Ireland in both a Methodist children’s Bible school outreach and a teen outreach ministry.
The theme of prayer and joyful dance were woven tightly around all things.
I returned on my father’s birthday!!
A week later, I found myself helping my sister move from our apartment to a house closer to her college.
The same weekend, I had the honor of sponsoring Kristi
Allison, a girl whom I have had the pleasure of mentoring for the past year and a half, on her Chrysalis Flight (i.e. Walk to Emmaus for high school students).
Since then, I have spent time with my friends and family!!
I enjoy every moment and cannot thank God enough for surrounding me with such beautiful people!!
I feel completely blessed to have a family grounded in faith for generations, as well as wonderful friends who truly care about my walk with Christ!
I will spend my last weekend enjoying the marriage of Susan and Sergi!! Susan is one of my roommates in college and an inspiration to me on my Christian Walk. After graduation, she moved to Spain, met her love, and has been in Europe ever since…
