Month one squad leading in Costa Rica has taken me through a few different cities, ministries, and journeys. I have been able to experience life with 4 different teams, and feel honored that I get to be a part of their month one memories!

We have had the ministry opportunity to mix and pour cement to make a new road, to have VBS for the local street children, put on music classes for the youths in the community, complete construction work on houses & at ministry sites, we were able to participate in a surf ministry, provide aid in a pregnancy center, and have a hand in many church outreach events! Seems like a ton, right?!? Guess it’s just a bonus of being a SQL! Here is a little video I put together so you can catch a glimpse of our month 1 from the SQL point of view:

I spent way to much time in month one comparing myself to what I thought a SQL should look like, and not enough time just being Molly Fae. I preoccupied myself with trying super hard to be squad leading the “correct way” and not just enjoying the sights, sounds, ministries, and teams that were spread throughout Costa Rica. (Which were stunning, as you could see from the video!) I don’t have to be behaving, communicating, teaching, etc, in a specific way for God to use me. HE WILL USE ME REGARDLESS. Not only that, He will use me with excellence. I just need to get my mind off others, and focused on Him. To glorify Him in the work, and not glorify myself in the result.

“You have to care about your work but not about the result. You have to care about how good you are and how good you feel, but not about how good people think you are or good people think you look.” -Leslie Knope, Parks and Recreation
