We are knee deep in award season, with the Grammy’s having just passed and the Oscars right around the corner, and I want to join in the fun and give my own award speech. Right here. Right now. From me, to you.

And the winner is… Molly Fae Dukes! For healing from Dengue Fever!!!

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! I don’t know what to say, I wasn’t prepared for this! ummm… *takes out speech written on napkin and unfolds it*

First off I would like to thank that stupid mosquito in the Philippines for giving me this opportunity, without you literally none of this would have happened. I’d like to thank my squad for taking care of me as we traveled to Thailand and we had no idea what was wrong with me; and my team for putting up with me during my worst, most painful, moments.

I would like to thank my coaches and squad mentor for convincing me to see a doctor, for Katelyn and Ben for taking me to the emergency room, and for the Thai doctors for actually diagnosing me! I’d like to thank my team of 13 lovely ladies for insisting I take it easy. Major props to Sarah Hurst and Jessica for making it their mission to make sure I was healing, and for going into beast mode when I wasn’t, to the point of staying the night in the hospital with me.

I want to give a HUGE shout out to the Adams family for allowing me to stay in their guest room, feeding me, for taking me to a number of hospital visits, and for allowing me to convalesce. YOU DA BEST! For the personal friend/doctor stateside who took special interest in my case and treated me like he would treat his own kid, I am beyond grateful. And for my loving family, who welcomed me back with open arms, eager to see me cured! If it wasn’t for your balance of pampering and pushing I would have never healed as quick as I did!

I want to thank the friends in and out of Ohio (from up to 4 hours away!) who visited me to keep me entertained and to let me know I’m thought of! For the countless number of friends (on and off the race) who skyped me and encouraged me throughout my healing process. And for my church family and the Rona kids for the fellowship and fun we’ve had.

Lastly, I want to thank all of my supporters for you letters, prayers, and love. It means the world to me.

Much love,

Molly Fae

P.S. Keep an eye out for my next role as a healthy racer! Coming to India, March 2015!
